Jose Mourinho - Top 4 will leave Man-U behind

Image
Jose Mourinho,  Manchester coach, admitted  the premier league's top four will stay behind,  as they battle in for an enforced break. Currently Manchester United are two points behind in the top four places, They welcome St Etienne in the Europa League on Thursday, before an FA Cup 5th-round clash with Blackburn Rovers, a trip to play St Etienne in France and the EFL Cup final against Southampton. It means Mourinho’s men will not play in the premier league until 4th of March. “They will leave us,” he said of United's top-4 rivals. I don't think it's easy to play the competition but we are motivated. As we play we will enjoy the Europa League. I don’t believe anyone goes to Wembley not happy to go, so we go, we play. Because we have a cup final. We have three matches to play during this period. So we have to train in this cold weather, and on bad pitches at this time. But we have to enjoy it because that what the situation is.  It is football.

Barcelona defender Aleix Vidal suffered a horrific ankle injury in the 87th minute of his team’s mauling of Deportivo Alaves. Suarez & Messi destroy Alaves Luis Enrique’s side were leading 6-0 in the dying stages of the game at Estadio de Mendizorroza when Alaves’s Theo Hernandez slid in on Vidal. The right-back, who has been performing well of late and provided the assist for Luis Suarez to score the first goal of the match, went down and stayed down. He was clearly in a lot of pain and team-mate Andres Iniesta immediately signalled for a stretcher. Pictures showed that Vidal’s ankle had twisted into a sickening position and he was stretchered off and rushed to hospital in Vitoria for treatment. "We knew from the outset that he really hurt himself," coach Luis Enrique said after the game. "It's a shame for the player, the team and for Barca. WENGER SAYS I'M FIT - NOT READY TO REST YET

Image
Arsene Wenger,  Arsenal Manager says he's not yet to vacate his post.  Wenger has dismissed claims that he is ready to step aside from his role. Speculation has been building as to the Frenchman’s future plans as he has not signed a new deal with the Emirates club, who appear destined to go another season without claiming the Premier League trophy. Earlier this week, Gunners great Ian Wright said that when he met Wenger for dinner, he got the impression that the former Nancy and Monaco coach was ready to give up the job in the summer. However the 67-year-old, who watched his side's 2-0 win over Hull on Saturday from the directors' box due to a touchline ban, has rebuffed such suggestions. “We had a little dinner, not the two of us,” he said. “I appreciate that you want me to rest, but I’m not ready for that.” Wenger is the Premier League’s longest-serving manager, having overseen more than 1,150 matches in charge of the Gunners, during which he has won thr...

How Arsenal's 2016/17 would look - if other top Premier League managers were in charge

Image
Revealed : Football Manager ran five different sims of five different Gunners seasons with the other five bosses in the top six in charge, and here's how they went COMMENTS #WengerOut! That seems to be the prevailing opinion these days. Social media has spoken. You might well be #WengerIn, but if you are then you need to speak up a bit. Consecutive defeats to Watford and Chelsea have left the Arsenal boss under a type of pressure that he's rarely felt before - except for this point of every season for what seems like the last decade - and the heat is on ahead of Saturday's clash with Hull. But what would things look like if Wenger wasn't in charge of the Gunners? I'm still standing.. It is a difficult state of affairs to imagine, we know, and so we decided to ask you what's your take on it? LEAVE COMMENTS

Will Man City sell Aguero this summer

Image
Manchester City have no intention of selling Sergio Aguero this summer, despite the striker being left out of the team for the past two matches. The 28-year-old signed a contract extension earlier this season, meaning he has three years left on his deal. After coming off the bench in City’s 2-1 win over Swansea, Aguero said: “I want to stay, of course. “In these [next] three months I have to help the club and then they will decide if I have a place here or not.” Despite Aguero expecting a decision to be made in the summer, senior City figures indicated on Sunday that they do not expect to sell the player. The Argentina forward came on for the final seven minutes as City secured a dramatic win over Swansea thanks to Gabriel Jesus’ injury-time winner, the second of the game for the Brazilian, who has taken Aguero’s place in the starting XI. Aguero is City’s top scorer this season with 18, 11 more than Raheem Sterling, who is next on the list. He is third on City’s all-time sc...

Arsenal Manager: Arsene Wenger blasts players for low performance

Image
Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has blasted the “naive” display of some of his players, for allowing Eden Hazard burst through to score a sensational solo goal during their 3-1 loss to Chelsea last weekend. Marcos Alonso had given the hosts the lead in the first half, before the Belgian produced a moment of pure magic to double their lead. Cesc Fabregas capitalized on a Petr Cech’s error to make it 3-0, before Olivier Giroud pulled one back. Wenger admits it was “difficult to watch”, as he continues to serve his four-game touchline ban. “That defeat against Watford had bigger consequences, maybe, than expected,” he said. “We didn’t create enough. In the final third we didn’t look dangerous enough. “That was difficult to watch from upstairs. I’m not subdued. I’m disappointed and angry because we lost a very big game. “The title’s slipped further out of our hands and there’s no hiding that. “Certain players individually were not at their best and when you are very young...

Messi breaks Barcelona’s free-kick record

Image
Lionel Messi broke another Barcelona record on Saturday, as his goal from a set-piece saw him become the most prolific free-kick scorer in the history of the club. Messi has now surpassed Ronald Koeman’s tally of 26. Barca had taken the lead against Athletic Bilbao through Paco Alcacer’s first La Liga goal for the Catalans, but the Argentine superstar stepped up to take a free-kick from the right of the penalty area. Messi’s low shot was on target, but Gorka Iraizoz completely missed the flight of the ball and it crept under him, as Barcelona doubled their lead. It was Messi’s 27th successful free-kick for the club. The 29-year-old had matched Koeman’s record against Athletic in the Copa del Rey last month. Barcelona won 3-0, with Aleix Vidal scoring the third. Luis Enrique’s men have now scored 100 goals in all competitions this season.
